Four-Probe Electrical Resistivity Apparatus
(ASTM B 193-02)

TPRL, Inc. has two electrical resistivity apparatuses. A room temperature four probe setup and a four probe setup in a furnace that can go up to 1100ÂșC. It involves passing constant direct current through the specimen. Sets of current and voltage terminals are placed on the sample. From the current and the sample dimensions it is possible to get the electrical resistivity (ρ):

ρ=(V/I)*(A/L)

where V is voltage, I is current, A is the cross-sectional area, and L is the length.

The data collection is computerized and the results calculated for a set of measurements performed.
